※Overseas immigrants are defined as thouse who immigrate overseas for long-term purposes, or acquire permanent residency in that country.
Ethnic Japanese abroad are those who live abroad as permanent residents as well as their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generataion of descendents, including non-Japanese citizens or multiracial descendents.
It is not decided until which generation of descendents will be considered of ethnic Japanese.
